What to expect
Modern Artists will participate in classroom learning, one-on-one instruction, collaboration, and live performance, gaining the experience to transfer what they learn in class to the stage with confidence.

Rehearsals
Students will be assigned to combos of 4-7 students with similar skill levels. They'll decide on their set list and practice these songs, giving each other positive encouragement as well as constructive feedback. Our combo instructors, Mike and Alex, will guide them and challenge them to dig deeper.
Final Performance
Live performance is an important skill for musicians to develop early on. Students will have the chance to play a live show for friends and family members at the end of the 5-day program.
Guest Lecturers
Students will partake in a masterclass hosted by a current artist of our choice who has found success as a musician. With this class, students get to hear more about what it really means to have a career as a musician and how others have made it happen. Past lecturers include bassist Luca Alemanno, drummer Anthony Fung, and singer/songwriter/saxophonist/producer Amber Navran.
Who should apply
Modern Artist is open to all students aged 14 - 18 with an interest in or experience playing jazz.
